Senior Accountant-Assist Controller

Uncle Giuseppe's Marketplace is actively seeking a full-time Senior Accountant/Assistant Controller for its busy Finance Department. The individual will assist in the day-to-day functions and operations within the Finance Department and will be a key point person for all financial and management reporting.

Responsibilities

Maintain all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements

Follow internal controls and safeguards for receipt of revenues, costs, payables, program budgets and actual expenditures

Assist with the preparation of financial statements

Maintain preparation of annual report of actual revenues, transfers, and expenses

Resolve any discrepancies with vendors

Review licensing and permits for each location to ensure compliance

Review and enter all payroll activity

Review weekly bank activity to ensure no fraudulent activity is occurring

Review all ecommerce activity

Review all chargeback documentation

Reconciliation of Balance Sheet accounts:

Prepare weekly cash balances and explain variances

Review and record all donations made from store locations

Review rebate checks and scan into system to confirm deposit into accounts

Assist with year-end audit

Work on special projects as needed

Additional functions and duties as assigned

Qualification

Required

Bachelor Degree (B.A. or B.S.) from a four-year college or university in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration

5 + years of experience working in the Accounting/Finance Department

Strong computer skills working within MS Office Suite, with a strong focus in Excel

Excellent organization skills with a very strong attention to detail

Excellent understanding and accountability of accounting and financial reporting, analytical acumen, monthly reporting schedules, annual reporting schedules, etc
