CMT Field Technician 1
Atlas is a nationwide leader in civil engineering, materials testing, and geotechnical consulting services. They are seeking a CMT Field Technician 1 to perform field and plant inspections, conduct sampling and testing of construction materials, and monitor contractor compliance with project specifications.

Responsibilities
Perform field and plant inspections for HMA and/or PCC production and placement
Conduct sampling and testing of construction materials in accordance with applicable standards
Monitor contractor compliance with project specifications and quality standards
Document and report test results accurately and in a timely manner
Communicate findings and issues to project engineers and contractors
Maintain and calibrate testing equipment
Assist in resolving material-related construction issues
Participate in safety meetings and adhere to all safety protocols
Support project documentation and closeout processes
Qualification
Required
Associate's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Materials Science, or a related field
OR High School Diploma or GED with 4+ years of relevant experience in construction materials testing or inspection
Minimum 3 years of professional experience in construction materials testing, inspection, or quality assurance
Experience with Hot Mix Asphalt (HMA) and/or Portland Cement Concrete (PCC) plant inspection is required (minimum 1 year)
Valid California Driver's License and clean driving record
Ability to pass a background check and drug screening
Ability to maintain accurate and timely documentation and reports
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Experience with data entry and reporting software (e.g., SiteManager, LIMS)
Familiarity with nuclear density gauges, slump cones, air meters, and other field testing equipment
Understanding of construction materials standards (ASTM, AASHTO, Caltrans)
Knowledge of quality control/quality assurance procedures in construction materials testing
Ability to travel up to 50% of the time, including occasional overnight stays depending on project location
Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety
Ability to work in various weather conditions and physically demanding environments
Excellent time management and organizational skills
Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends, as needed
Preferred
ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician—Grade I Certification
Experience working on transportation infrastructure projects (e.g., highways, bridges, airports)
Familiarity with Caltrans or other DOT specifications and procedures
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Caltrans Acceptance Tester Certification (or ability to obtain within 6 months)
Nuclear Gauge Safety Certification (for HMA testing)
OSHA 10 or 30-Hour Construction Safety Certification
