Project Engineer, Distribution
ESP Associates, through its subsidiary Pickett, is a surveying and engineering company with over 60 years of experience. The Project Engineer will provide engineering and technical expertise on complex electrical projects, including design and support for distribution lines and construction phases.

Responsibilities
Provide engineering design and permitting support for new overhead & underground distribution lines (4 kV to 35Kv) for power delivery projects
Provide engineering and design support for under-built distribution on transmission lines
Evaluate poles for the impact of adding ADSS fiber or third-party attachments
Assist in performing load studies related to distribution transformers
Perform and review short circuit and voltage drop calculations
Identify make-ready work and the need for hold tags or clearance outages
Provide construction support and respond to information requests during construction
Complete project documentation including as-builts, calculations, etc
Maintain and enhance relationships with other design disciplines within Pickett and external stakeholders
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Engineering (required)
4+ years of related overhead and underground distribution engineering experience serving the electric utility industry (required)
Strong understanding of electrical design including the selection and installation of poles, conductors, insulators, switchgear, circuit reclosers, fuses and other distribution equipment (required)
Possess knowledge of ESC and NEC standards and codes and major utility engineering standards
Ability to work in a safe manner and always obey safety regulations
Ability to be a self-starter and thrive in an unstructured, varied and deadline-driven work environment
Strong ability to collaborate with team members and peers in the electrical utility industry
Effective communication skills (verbal, written and presentation)
Demonstrated verbal and technical writing skills
Ability to pass a drug screen, background check, and have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the company's driving (MVR) policy
Preferred
Professional Engineer (PE) certification (preferred)
Knowledge of overhead systems design and the use of PLS-CADD (preferred)
Understanding of structural, civil and geotechnical aspects of distribution engineering (preferred)
Capability in GIS databases and in system modeling and analysis software is a plus but not required
