Project Manager (Engineer II) – Castle Hayne
The N.C. Department of Transportation is seeking a Project Manager – Engineer II to join their Division 3 Project Development Unit. The role involves managing transportation projects, ensuring adherence to scope, schedule, and budget while collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams to deliver preconstruction projects.

Responsibilities
Assist in the delivery of STIP and non-STIP projects from development through construction, ensuring adherence to scope, schedule, and budget
Lead and support multi-disciplinary teams in preparing engineering analyses, design products, special provisions, quantities, plans, and contract documents
Prepare and review engineering plans and technical data for completeness, compatibility, and compliance with engineering principles, standards, codes, and design needs
Make decisions and recommendations on routine engineering matters and technical designs, under the guidance of senior staff and project managers
Provide input on project concerns or issues and escalate significant matters as needed
Apply basic engineering concepts, practices, and theories to support project planning, design, review, permitting, construction, and maintenance activities
Serve as a contributing member of project teams and assist in developing project solutions
Promote program goals and objectives and ensure proper documentation and coverage for assigned projects
Manage program initiatives and special assignments as directed, ensuring flexibility to address evolving unit goals and priorities
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in an applicable field of engineering from an appropriately accredited institution and three (3) years of progressively responsible experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience in reading and interpreting highway construction plans and contracts
Computer experience including office software and drafting software
Knowledge of the principles and practices of civil engineering and construction methods, materials and equipment
Customer service experience related to resolving problems and that involves explaining engineering concepts to various customer groups
Experience in the preparation and review of complex engineering and technical plans and/or data for completeness, compatibility, compliance with engineering principles, standards, codes and design needs
Must be able to read and interpret constructions plans
Must be able to establish and maintain positive lines of communication between other technicians, engineers, contractors, and the public
Position requires excellent organizational and time-management skills to ensure projects are completed accurately and in a timely manner
Position requires the ability to write memos and reports that clearly convey technical information and engineering concepts
Necessary Special Qualification May require registration as a professional engineer by the North Carolina Board of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors
