Intelligent Transportation Systems Engineer (ITS Engineer) Project Manager

NEOGOV is seeking an Intelligent Transportation Systems Engineer (ITS Engineer) Project Manager for the City of Tucson’s Department of Transportation & Mobility. This role is responsible for planning, coordinating, and delivering technology-driven transportation projects that enhance mobility, safety, and efficiency for the public.

Responsibilities

Plans, organizes, and manages intelligent transportation systems projects including traffic signal systems, adaptive signal control, communication networks, connected vehicle technologies, and traveler information systems
Prepares project scopes, schedules, budgets, cost estimates, and procurement documents
Administers consultant and contractor contracts, monitors performance and compliance with terms and conditions
Coordinates with internal departments, regional agencies, utility providers, and state and federal partners to ensure integration and consistency with transportation programs
Reviews plans, specifications, and technical documents to ensure compliance with standards, codes, and project requirements
Oversees testing, integration, and acceptance of ITS systems and infrastructure
Prepares reports, technical memoranda, grant applications, and presentations to elected officials, stakeholders, and the public
Monitors system operations and evaluates effectiveness; recommends modifications to improve safety, mobility, and efficiency
Maintains knowledge of emerging technologies, trends, and best practices in transportation systems and smart mobility
Performs other duties as assigned

Required

Bachelor's degree
Three (3) years of relevant experience
A valid and unrestricted driver's license with two (2) years of licensed driving

Preferred

Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Systems Engineering, Information Technology or related field
Experience with connected and automated vehicle technologies, fiber optic and wireless communication systems, or smart city applications
Prior work experience in a municipal, county or state government agency
Experience securing and managing state and federal grant funds
