Scribe - Optometry Clinic

Midwest Eye Consultants is an optometry clinic seeking a Scribe to assist doctors during patient exams by transcribing data into medical records. The role involves various administrative and clinical functions, including patient scheduling and preparing exam rooms.

Responsibilities

During the exam, accurately enter information into EHR as dictated by the doctor
Assist optometrist and ophthalmologist with patient procedures
Escort the patient to Optical and introduce to the Optician, reiterating the doctor’s recommendations
Coordinate patient scheduling and monitor patient flow throughout the office, properly communicating delays
Prepare exam room by cleaning instruments and maintaining inventory of medications and supplies
Provide a safe, clean, organized and inviting environment for both patients and staff
Perform other duties and assume various responsibilities as determined by leadership
Prepare patients for eye examinations and vision therapy; confidentially instruct patients about medications, tests, and procedures
Perform various vision and diagnostic tests
Collect patient medical history and enter data into EHR
Assist with answering the telephone, scheduling appointments, and effectively maintaining appointment books for doctors, as well as assist in completing recalls
Occasional travel to support other offices may be requested

Required

High school graduate or equivalent
Proficient in EHR, including exceptional keyboarding skills
Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
Detail oriented with strong organizational skills
Quality of work reflects efficiency and accuracy
Ability to obtain knowledge and skills on the job or through educational courses
A strong commitment to helping people
Polite, professional, and courteous
Ability to lead, motivate and promote a team environment
Proactive, adaptable, with the ability to work under pressure to accomplish projects and meet deadlines in a fast paced environment
Physical Activity: Standing for sustained periods of time, Stooping, Grasping, Lifting, Talking, Hearing
Physical requirements: Light work. Must be able to lift up to 15 lbs on a regular basis from floor to waist, 5 lbs from waist to shoulder, and 5 lbs from shoulder to overhead
The worker is required to have visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned

Preferred

Previous experience in optometry is preferred
