Responsibilities
Coordinates audits conducted by external audit agencies, such as the California State Auditor, Department of Finance, and Office of the Inspector General
Serves as central point of contact between programs under audit, Director’s Office, and the external audit agencies
Manages information requests for multiple audits
Facilitates entrance and exit conferences
Maintains audit dashboards and provides audit status updates related to upcoming audits, audit reports issued, findings, recommendations, and audit responses
Monitors Corrective Action Plans due dates and submits responses timely
Reviews and analyzes supporting documentation to determine the implementation of audit recommendations
Maintains physical and electronic files
Responsible for the less complex auditor duties, including financial, compliance, and performance audits in compliance with government auditing standards
Qualification
Required

Performance of job duties may require travel throughout California
If you are new to California State Service, you must take and pass the examination for this classification to be eligible for hire
Current state employees without transfer or list eligibility must also complete and pass the examination for this classification to qualify for this position
This position may be eligible for telework up to three (3) days per week and is required to report in-person to the designated headquarters office location a minimum of two (2) days per week
All employees who telework are required to be California residents in accordance with Government Code 14200
Candidates who reside outside of the state of California may be interviewed; however, the selected candidate must have a primary residency in the state of California prior to appointment (and continue to maintain California residency) as a condition of employment
Preferred
Ability to organize detailed audit reports, including analysis of complex factual scenarios, and making objective determinations from the analysis
Ability to clearly and concisely communicate determinations or audit findings, conclusions, or project results in both written and verbal formats
Ability to adapt to changing requirements or priorities, demonstrate flexibility, and respond constructively to new information or directions
Knowledge of the professional audit standards established by the Red Book
Strong communication skills, including clear oral and written communication, and effective listening
Good interpersonal skills and the ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships
Foundational understanding of California and federal auditing authority and guidelines, with the ability to develop technical proficiency through on-the-job learning
Ability to research, interpret, and apply State and Federal regulations and funding requirements, with guidance as needed
Strong organizational, time management, and planning skills to support the completion of IAU's goals and objectives

Business travel may be required, and reimbursement considers an employee’s designated headquarters office subject to regulations and bargaining unit contract provisions.
