The Engineering Society of Queen's University is seeking a Wet Lab Team Lead for the Queen's Genetically Engineered Machine (QGEM) design team. The role involves leading in-person wet lab operations, mentoring team members, and contributing to project development and competition deliverables.

Education Management

Responsibilities

Act as the primary lead for in-person wet lab operations and experimental design
Co-design, execute, and troubleshoot all wet lab experiments (cloning, culturing, plasmid construction, expression assays, data collection)
Oversee day-to-day lab operations
Lead, train, and mentor the Wet Lab team general members
Co-lead project development and experimental decisions
Provide regular progress updates and contribute to competition deliverables (documentation, manuscript/abstract, website, pitch materials & more)

Required

Experience with wet lab techniques (i.e. cloning, culturing, plasmid construction, expression assays) is an asset
Understanding of experimental design and the scientific method

Candidates must be located in Kingston and available full-time from May to September 2026

Preferred

Demonstrated interest in synthetic biology, microbiology, biochemistry or related fields is considered a very strong asset
