Responsibilities
Inspects highly complex tools (molds & dies) for damage and wear to assess overall condition
Studies specifications such as blueprints, sketches, models, or descriptions, and visualizes product to determine materials required and machines to be used to fabricate parts
Computes dimensions, plans layout, and determines assembly method and sequence of operations
Verifies dimensions, alignments, and clearances on new and existing designs
Examines standard or previously used dies, tools, and jigs and fixtures, and recommends design modifications regarding construction and function of part. Including production machines
Develops specifications from general descriptions for specialty tools and draws or sketches design of product
Sets up and operates machine tools such as lathes, milling machine, and grinder, to machine parts, and verifies conformance of machine parts to specifications
Qualification
Required
Two-year technical school in Tool & Die making or equivalent experience
Minimum of five (5) years related experience as a Toolmaker
Understanding of various tool steels and how they relate to the appropriate application
Thorough knowledge of machine shop practice
Highly analytical
Requires a thorough knowledge of machine shop practice
Understands trigonometry
Understands production machine functions and can troubleshoot mechanical functions
Good communication skills
Preferred
Knowledge of small miniature molds is a plus
Experience with medical grade resins is a plus
