Mechanical Engineer III – Advanced Development
Legrand, North America is a leader in electrical and digital building infrastructures, and they are seeking a Mechanical Engineer III to join their Product Architecture engineering team. The role involves advanced product development for new initiatives, focusing on conceptual designs, product architectures, and managing regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities
Perform advanced product development for new roadmap initiatives with primary responsibilities to develop conceptual designs, define product architectures, and manage regulatory compliance and photometric testing verification
Create scalable designs that support platform development and drive simplicity through supply chain and operations
Apply advanced design processes, predictive simulation, and best practices to increase design first pass yield and reduce time to market
Analyze risks and root out issues early in the design process. Apply first principles thinking to solve the most challenging technical design problems across the product portfolio
Work closely with product management and industrial design to assure designs meet customer requirements and product design intent
Simultaneously support multiple projects in various phases of development. Meet timeline commitments and communicate critical updates to project stakeholders
Perform peer review of designs to assist teammates and ensure best practices are followed and lessons learned are incorporated
Qualification
Required
Proven track record of identifying and executing on new product development projects from design to implementation in production
Tenacious problem-solver, with an energetic approach to raising the bar. Someone the team will wish to seek/engage to solve tough design challenges
Self-motivated, self-directed, and able to work in a fast-paced environment
Strong communication and organizational skills – ability to forge relationships with others and align on the best decision
Detail-oriented, with a desire to “roll up your sleeves” to help your team successfully meet project deadlines
Customer-focused with a strong sense of urgency
Team player - demonstrated history of building rapport and quickly integrating with a new team
Business Acumen – the ability to quickly analyze options to formulate the best value plan
5-10 years of professional engineering work experience, preferably in product development
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited program
3D CAD software expertise, SolidWorks preferred
Ability to interpret and apply GD&T
Experience with casted and injection molded part design and electromechanical assembly design
Demonstrated success in ensuring cost reduction targets are achieved as outlined in the project scope
Demonstrated success working in cross-functional teams through projects or organizations
Preferred
Lighting industry and optics design experience preferred but not required
