System Safety Engineer - Level 2
Lockheed Martin is a leading aerospace and defense company, seeking a System Safety Engineer for the AMMM System Safety Team. The role involves supporting safety engineering efforts, performing hazard analyses, leading safety analyses, and coordinating safety activities across teams.

Responsibilities
Perform analyses for hazard identification, evaluation, and control using quantitative and qualitative techniques
Lead System Safety Analyses such as Functional Hazard Analysis (FHA), Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), Preliminary Hazard Analysis (PHA), and System Safety Analysis (SSA)
Conduct risk assessments and trade studies to optimize design choices and recommend appropriate controls
Coordinate safety activities with design teams, suppliers, internal management, and external customers
Qualification
Required
Must be a U.S. citizen
Ability to obtain a secret clearance
Strong foundation in safety analysis
Passion for aviation systems
Collaborative and detail-oriented
Ability to thrive in multidisciplinary environments
Clear communication skills
Drive safety excellence throughout the product lifecycle
Preferred
Military or civilian flight experience
Knowledge of MIL-STD-882, MIL-HDBK-516, ARP-4761, and/or ARP-4754
Knowledge of FAA and military regulations and processes
Previous experience writing technical reports on complex subject matter
Experience with military or government programs
Knowledge of statistical analysis methods
Aircraft system safety engineering experience
Training or experience related to system safety or airworthiness
Model-based system engineering (MBSE) training or experience
