Kubernetes Network Development Engineer

The role involves designing, implementing, and maintaining cluster networking, integrating with external systems, and ensuring reliable and secure application and infrastructure networking.

Responsibilities

Architect and implement networking for hybrid K3s clusters
Configure and optimize CNIs (Multus, Cilium, Calico) for multi-network scenarios
Enable VLAN-backed networks, SR-IOV, and multi-interface workloads
Deploy and manage bare-metal load balancers (MetalLB, BGP)
Build custom Kubernetes controllers/operators in Go for declarative networking
Automate IPAM, DNS integration, and network provisioning across hybrid environments
Ensure seamless GitOps integration with CRDs and controllers
Implement network policies, encryption, and observability (Cilium Hubble, Prometheus)
Collaborate with DevOps, SRE, and hardware teams to align with platform needs
Document architecture, runbooks, and provide internal knowledge transfer

Required

Deep expertise in Kubernetes/K3s networking and CNIs
Hands-on experience with Multus, Cilium, Calico, and MetalLB
Strong Go development skills (Kubebuilder, Operator SDK)
Proficiency in Linux networking (netlink, iproute2, eBPF)
Experience with IPAM, VLAN bridging, DHCP/DNS integration
Security-first mindset: RBAC, network policies, encryption
Familiarity with service mesh (Istio, Linkerd) and high-performance networking (SR-IOV, DPDK)

Preferred

Bonus: Contributions to Kubernetes networking or CNI projects
