The City of Commerce City is seeking a strategic and collaborative Deputy Director of Community Development to help shape the future of a growing, dynamic community. In this senior leadership role, you will provide vision, direction, and operational oversight across key community development functions, ensuring alignment with City Council priorities and community needs.

Responsibilities

Provide vision, direction, and operational oversight across key community development functions

Guide department strategy and oversee complex initiatives

Step into the Director role as needed to ensure continuity and strong organizational guidance

Oversee and mentor division managers

Oversee departmental budgets and contracts

Develop policies and long-range plans

Foster an inclusive, high-performing culture focused on continuous improvement

Support neighborhood-based programs and citizen engagement efforts

Advise on policy decisions and represent the department at public meetings

Qualification

Required

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in Urban Planning, Urban Design, Public Administration or closely related field

Eight (8) years progressively responsible experience in development related field, including a minimum of two (2) years in a key management/supervisory role

Possession or the ability to obtain a valid Colorado driver's license with a safe driving record

Equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience will be considered
