Project Geotechnical Engineer
Foth is a 100% member-owned science and engineering consulting firm headquartered in Wisconsin, and they are seeking a Geotechnical Engineer to support a variety of environmentally related projects. This role requires strong technical expertise in geotechnical engineering, focusing on the design and analysis of earth structures, marine foundations, and heavy-lift foundation support.

Responsibilities
Lead project design through technical reports, geotechnical calculations, analysis, and modeling
Provide design, construction observation, and finite element analysis. Perform geotechnical analysis, design calculations, and ensure soil stability for heavy civil, upland, and in-water environmental remediation projects
Provide pile driving analysis, dynamic pile testing, CAPWAP. Collaborate with structural engineers to create complementary foundation designs
Evaluate soil and rock properties, load-bearing capacity, and ground improvement. Address environmental impacts and ensure sustainable practices
Collect data, analyze slope stability, manage groundwater, and assess geotechnical risks. Use tools like AutoCAD for design and decision-making
Assist with proposals, reports, and project phases. Coordinate tasks, review junior staff work, and ensure high-quality deliverables
Prepare design calculations, develop field sampling plans, coordinate field work, provide construction observations, and perform site visits to analyze data
Prepare permit documents for mine site development, dam safety, closure, reclamation, and financial assurance
Prepare proposals, including project budget and schedule, work plans, and management of subcontractor/vendor contracts
Act as technical lead in the oversight of other engineers, geologists, and consultants
Qualification
Required
7+ years of experience performing civil engineering work with a geotechnical focus in heavy civil design and construction
Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Geological Engineering, or related field
Professional Engineering Certification (PE)
Preferred
Master's Degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Geological Engineering, or related field
Experience designing waterfront facilities including pile, steel sheet, and slurry wall improvements
Experience designing retaining walls, shallow and deep foundations including spread footings, drilled piers, piles, and caissons
Experience designing dredging, slope stability, and in-water capping aspects of remediation projects
