Process Safety Engineer

Responsibilities
Provide day-to-day process safety support for assigned units, including:
Facilitate PHA revalidation and Capital Projects PHAs, LOPA, and prepare for and Complete PHA management reviews with final reports
Participate in incident investigations, help classify Process Safety incidents and participate in / lead investigations as needed
Review Management of Change requests, including support for determining when a Process Hazard Analysis is needed. Participate in PSSRs
Management of action items entry with tracking in the database and work with units to facilitate action item closure. Support in providing guidance for ALARP and IPL determination
Support management of KPIs, update Reactivity Matrices as needed for assigned units and support PSM Manual Updates/Revision
Support in ASVS program compliance including gap assessment and developing compliance plan
Manage development and implementation of both tactical and strategic PSM and RMP programs. Serve as PSM point of contact, providing regulatory compliance guidance for PSM/RMP programs. Advise and assist Managers, Supervisors, Engineers and Contractor Safety Representatives to ensure that the site operates within Lubrizol’s process safety policies and performance standards
Participate in site and Lubrizol corporate process safety initiatives to develop and implement site procedures and technical guidelines associated with PSM/RMP elements, to ensure company standardization of process safety practices. Perform gap analysis to standardize Lubrizol PSM/RMP work processes
Support and lead Process PSM audits as needed locally and regionally
Develop and provide relevant Process Safety training for the site
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree or higher degree in Chemical Engineering
8+ years' experience in a chemical or petrochemical manufacturing site with Process Safety Management experience
Experience in hazard identification, risk analyses, facility siting, relief sizing and PHA-LOPA facilitation
Knowledgeable in industry codes, standards and RAGAGEP relevant to process design and safety (e.g. ASME, API, NFPA, ANSI, IEC etc)
Ability to proactively work across different departments, building strong collaborative relationships to go above and beyond in achieving superior process safety results
Strong communicator with the ability to positively influence decision makers by being a change agent, capturing opportunities to deliver high standard results
Preferred
Working knowledge of engineering software tools such as PHA-Pro, PHA works, PHAST are considered a plus
