The Ohio State University College of Medicine and the Wexner Medical Center are seeking a PhD or MD/PhD researcher to join the Department of Surgery, Division of Colon and Rectal Surgery. The role focuses on conducting research in colorectal cancer and involves mentoring junior scientists and developing grant proposals.

Responsibilities

Conceptualizes, plans, designs, implements and conducts research studies; develops and writes grant proposals to seek and obtain extramural funding to support research program; obtains and maintains NIH R01 or equivalent funding

Writes and publishes research in high quality peer reviewed, scientific journals; attends and makes presentations of research at national and international scientific conferences; develops national and international scholarly reputation

Instructs and mentors junior scientists, doctoral and postdoctoral students, medical students, residents and fellow trainees; participates in department, college and university committees and initiatives

Required

PhD or MD/PhD in an applicable field

Postdoctoral research experience in basic science research

Proven ability to write scientific reports and publish in scientific, peer-reviewed journals preferred

Current, active extramural grant funding (equivalent to NIH R01)

Academic experience a plus

Qualify for academic appointment at the Assistant, Associate or Professor level – Academic rank and salary will be commensurate with previous training and experience
