Responsibilities

Create detailed 2D/3D CAD models for furniture frames, fabric-wrapped parts, and power recliner mechanisms
Design for manufacturability across wood, metal, foam, and fabric subassemblies
Apply GD&T standards to guarantee fit, form, and function during production
Maintain BOMs, drawings, part numbers, and specs with Vault Pro
Update technical documents to reflect design changes and improvements
Create user guides, assembly instructions, and installation documents
Translate concept sketches into build-ready digital models with Product Management & R&D
Partner with Operations during prototyping and build trials
Provide Supply Chain & Sales with “what-if” CAD mockups and cost estimates
Integrate powered recliner and lift mechanisms into layouts
Model actuator paths, wiring, and motion ranges
Support troubleshooting for electromechanical systems
Explore new materials, ergonomic trends, and manufacturing methods
Participate in DFMEA and root cause analysis
Pursue ongoing training in CAD tools, mechanisms, and smart furniture design

Qualification

Required

Associate's degree in Drafting, Mechanical Technology, or Industrial Design (Bachelor's or certifications a plus)
3+ years' CAD design experience—ideally in furniture, seating, or consumer electromechanical products
Proficiency with Autodesk Inventor & Vault Pro
Strong knowledge of mechanisms, wiring integration, actuators, and materials (steel, foam, upholstery, CNC, welding)
A collaborative mindset with excellent communication skills and a passion for problem-solving

Preferred

Formal GD&T training preferred
Lean/Six Sigma/DFMEA experience is a bonus
