Start in 2026 SpringSarasota County Government is seeking a Civil Engineering Intern to support the Traffic Engineering section of Transportation. The role offers hands-on experience in traffic studies, data analysis, and collaboration with experienced professionals while contributing to the development of advanced traffic management systems.

Responsibilities
Assist Traffic Engineering Manager and Traffic Engineers with traffic studies and analyses
Assist TMC staff with acquisition and analysis of traffic and signal system data
Assist Traffic Technical Specialist with traffic data collection
Conduct site investigations
Process data using Excel
Assist with written reports
Respond to citizen requests (with direction from senior engineers)
Collaborate with your department colleagues to make and influence real changes
A presentation to the County Administrator and other County Leadership staff is required at the close of the internship program on Friday, August 7, 2026
Participate in all organized intern events and trainings
Qualification
Required
Ages 16-17 with parental consent, or 18 and above
Eligible to work in the United States – we love local, national, and international students!
Active, enrolled student seeking a Bachelor's of Science in Civil Engineering (B.S.C.E.) or related field
Preferred
Candidates pursuing a B.S.C.E. or Data Science or related field and having completed their second year of university
