Environmental Program Consultant

The North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) is dedicated to providing science-based environmental stewardship for the health and prosperity of all North Carolinians. The Environmental Program Consultant will oversee compliance for hazardous waste management facilities, review permit applications, and interact with stakeholders to ensure environmental protection.

Responsibilities

Perform technical reviews and evaluations of RCRA corrective action documents and oversee groundwater compliance for hazardous waste management facilities
Review and modify closure and post-closure plans and conduct technical reviews and evaluations of hazardous waste management permit applications
Interact with EPA Region 4 and department personnel
Provide technical information to the public and facilities
Keep track of facility compliance activities and progress on projects

Required

Master's degree in one of the agricultural, biological, engineering, environmental or natural resource sciences or a closely related curriculum from an appropriately accredited institution
Three years of experience related to the area of assignment
An equivalent combination of education and experience
