Burr & Forman LLP is seeking an experienced Litigation Paralegal for their Jackson, MS office. The role involves drafting legal documents, managing cases, and conducting legal research while adhering to strict deadlines and maintaining effective communication with clients and attorneys.

Responsibilities

Perform complex paralegal duties requiring knowledge of legal terminology and legal processes from case inception to resolution

Draft and edit motions, briefs, pleadings, notices, summaries, reports, correspondence and other similar documents

Prepare and file briefs, pleadings, and other filings in state and federal court

Prepare discovery requests and responses and summarize deposition transcripts

Prepare trial exhibits, charts, notebooks, subpoenas, and provide other assistance for trial preparation

Proofread and cite check briefs and other legal documents

Prepare for and/or attend depositions, hearings, mediations, and trials

Conduct legal research using a variety of resources such as PACER, SJIS, LEXIS, Westlaw, etc

Maintain and manage calendars for applicable court deadlines and appearances

Communicate with clients, experts, and attorneys as needed

Other responsibilities as needed

Required

A bachelor's degree, paralegal certification or degree, or appropriate combination of education/experience

Must be familiar with the State and Federal Rules of Civil Procedure

Strong organizational and communication skills

Excellent writing skills and the ability to draft documents

Ability to work independently

Experience with drafting and electronic filing of pleadings, motions, deposition scheduling and summarization, trial preparation, and legal research

Knowledge of PACER, Word, Excel, Outlook, and other document management software

Preferred

Knowledge of e-discovery and Trial Director; Relativity helpful
