Pump Shop Instrumentation/Electronics Supervisor
City of Miami Beach is seeking a Pump Shop Instrumentation/Electronics Supervisor to oversee the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical equipment for the city. This role involves directing crews, planning operational needs, and ensuring compliance with safety standards.

Responsibilities
Plans, organizes, directs, inspects, and evaluates the work of subordinates and private contractors assigned to the installation and maintenance of electrical components
Plans for long-term operational needs and assists with the development of the budget
Assists in developing plans and procedures for responding to complaints and emergencies; responds to such calls in person as required
Makes field inspections regularly to provide direction to crews to ensure that ample personnel, tools, and materials are available; ensures that work is being correctly accomplished and on schedule
Reports to the Operational Supervisor concerning project status and progress; prepares and submits written reports as required; reviews progress reports of activities and employee personnel-related documents
Administers the provisions of the City's work rules and applicable collective bargaining agreements in personnel-related matters
Plans and recommends the purchase of new equipment; keeps informed of the latest developments in maintenance, repair, and installation of electrical components
Investigates work-related accidents and submits injury reports; confers with the City's Risk Manager
Plans and administers training and safety measures to reduce and control absenteeism and on-the-job injuries
Performs other related duties as assigned
Plans, supervises, and participates in the work of crews involved in the operation, monitoring, installation, construction, inspection, maintenance, repair, overall cleaning, and general care of all pump stations
Trains and evaluates the work of supervisory, skilled, semi-skilled, and unskilled workers
Performs or assists subordinates in performing unusual or highly technical work, responding to unique or difficult situations, and resolving problems
Assists in determining, developing, implementing, and ensuring adherence to operational procedures consistent with federal, state, and local laws, ordinances, regulations, and guidelines, and with City and departmental policy and procedures
Establishes and enforces safety standards and safe operating procedures
Prepares, maintains, and evaluates employee and equipment operations, performance records, and reports
Ensures effective, efficient, and timely operation of pump stations
Completes research, participates in training, and maintains contacts to remain informed on current developments, programs, regulations, and procedures in assignments; incorporates such information into training
Inspects construction and repairs by crews, citizens, and private companies for conformance with applicable regulations
Works in conjunction with design, inspection, technical personnel, regulatory, and other agencies to ensure compliance with required laws, regulations, standards, guidelines, and procedures
Inventories, evaluates, and makes detailed recommendations for modifying or purchasing necessary parts, supplies, materials, services, and equipment, and maintains stock as directed
Assists in other major Public Works projects outside of the typical areas of responsibility
Performs related work as required
Qualification
Required
Must possess an Electrical Journeyman's License or higher
Five (5) years of experience in the installation, repair, operation, and maintenance of electronics, wiring, pumping equipment, and streetlighting equipment
Must possess a Class “B” Commercial Driver's License with endorsements
Must obtain NIMS 100, 200, 700, and 800 within 12 months after hire
Extensive knowledge of the principles, practices, and equipment used for electrical system installation, construction, repair, and maintenance
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with elected officials, coworkers, the press the general public and members of diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds regardless of race, religion, age, sex, disability, political affiliation, gender identity or sexual orientation
Ability to serve the public and fellow employees with honesty and integrity in full accord with the letter and spirit of all city ethics and conflicts of interest policies
Strong understanding of ethical behavior is required
Ability to maintain regular and punctual attendance
Reports to work as directed during an emergency as an essential employee of the City of Miami Beach
Ability to develop innovative and creative solutions to issues consistent with the City's strategic plan
Preferred
Additional training and/or certification in the areas of electrical and instrumentation (SCADA systems)
