The specialist will lead efforts to assist faculty and academic units in ensuring course materials are fully accessible and provide training on best practices.

Responsibilities
Functions as the secondary administrator of the Canvas-embedded tool for auditing online courses for accessibility issues
Monitors course audits
Keeps the Director informed of progress and issues in the effort to assure accessible course material campus wide
Assists academic unit leaders in keeping track of compliance rates and issues in their unit
Meets with individual faculty to resolve course accessibility issues as needed
Keeps current with accessibility laws and standards
Assists in maintaining a knowledge base on accessibility tools and methods for creating and remediating accessible course materials
Works on individual courses and course materials for accessibility remediation as needed
Helps lead graduate student assistants in remediating course materials
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Education, Computer Science, Disability Services, or a related field
Two (2) years of related experience
Knowledge of accessibility standards for digital materials and general support services for people with disabilities
Advanced computer skills and familiarity with a range of software tools for creating and remediating digital course materials
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to lead workshops for faculty
Experience with learning management systems
Preferred
Experience with Canvas a plus
