Traffic Signal Technician Supervisor
The State of Indiana is one of the largest employers in the state, and they are seeking a Traffic Signal Technician Supervisor for the Indiana Department of Transportation. This role involves supervising a team of technicians, performing electrical work on traffic control devices, and ensuring the maintenance and operation of traffic signal systems.

Responsibilities
Perform electrical work on traffic control devices (e.g., traffic signals, flashing beacons, and street and detour lights, detectors, signal controllers, messenger cable, relays, meters, conduits, housings, highway and sign luminaries and other related devices)
Perform more complex electrical and electronic repairs, diagnose or evaluate. (i.e., such activities include but are not limited to programming controllers and components for time-based coordination, fire and emergency vehicle preemption, time of day function changes and makes changes to signal coordination settings to effect traffic flow and other similarly complex functions)
Supervise the work of other employees to ensure adherence to quality standards and proper procedures. Provide guidance in handling difficult or complex problems or in resolving escalations
Prepare and issue work schedules and duty assignments
Test and analyze entire signal system to ensure system is synchronized and functioning as designed
Rebuild and repair traffic signal controllers (e.g., pre-timed, actuated and traffic density types)
Respond to external complaints, dealing with and responding to the public on inquiries and requests for information, including directing after hours callouts
Prepare and manage annual signal work plan, budget, and inventory
Schedule necessary training with vendors on signal components
Maintain and update electronic files of all traffic signals for signal timing, emergency callouts, and equipment inventory
Recruit, select, onboard, and train employees to ensure role responsibilities and expectations are clearly understood while providing opportunities to continue professional development
Set expectations, measure progress, provide ongoing feedback, and evaluate the performance of employees. Ensure work adheres to quality standards, deadlines, and proper procedures
Workday attendance at assigned worksite(s) is an essential function of this position
Qualification
Required
High School Diploma or High School equivalent (HSE)
Five (5) years' experience in traffic signal systems maintenance or related experience
Be willing to travel with reasonable accommodation
Must possess a valid Class A or Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or obtain one with the first 90 days of employment
Must have and maintain International Municipal Signal Association Level 2 and INDOT Signal Technician Certification
Ability to work with public to assess needs, provide assistance, resolve problems, and satisfy expectations
Ability to read and analyze diagrams, electrical drawings, and manuals
Ability to troubleshoot electronic equipment along with reading and interpreting manuals
Must be able to endure exposure to inclement weather
Must be available for Winter Operations Duty
Ability to delegate work, set clear direction, and manage workflow
Ability to effectively give feedback, provide guidance or corrective action, coach, and develop employee skillsets
Able to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation
Preferred
Associates Degree in Electronics, Computer Programming
