Responsibilities
Qualify and manage suppliers (machine shops, fabricators, integrators)
Run RFQs/RFPs and evaluate suppliers on manufacturability, cost, lead time, and quality
Review mechanical drawings, materials, GD&T, and tolerances
Own incoming inspection: dimensional checks, material certs (CoC/MTR), and nonconformance handling
Drive supplier corrective actions and rework when issues arise
Maintain BOMs, part numbers, revisions, alternates, and approved supplier lists
Support configuration management, design changes (DCRs), and documentation updates
Work hands-on with engineering and operations to support builds and assemblies
Operate within and help mature the site Quality Management System (QMS)
Qualification
Required
BS in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or similar
5+ years of experience in Supplier Quality, Manufacturing Quality, or Mechanical Quality Engineering
Strong exposure to custom mechanical parts and assemblies: Machining, fabrication, welding, casting, sheet metal
Experience qualifying suppliers and managing vendor performance
Comfortable inspecting parts and resolving quality issues without a large QA department
Able to make technical tradeoffs independently and move work forward
Design control / documentation exposure (BOMs, change control, DHF-style documentation)
