Responsibilities

Lead project kickoff calls and coordinate early design planning with Project Managers and field teams

Research existing utilities, rights-of-way, and design constraints to support permitting and constructability

Partner with the Project Manager to define scope and design requirements

Break down project needs, assign tasks, and manage workstreams across the design team

Engage the Lead Engineer for specialized design elements (permitting support, ROW complexity, unique utility requirements)

Gather and coordinate all design documentation required for permitting (PM submits permits; Design Manager supports with inputs)

Create and manage design schedules , assigning CAD and engineering tasks to meet milestones

Allocate resources strategically to ensure projects stay within budget

Oversee CAD production for linear utility projects; conduct detailed QA/QC reviews

Review, correct, and approve AutoCAD designs produced by the team

Provide performance feedback, coaching, and development for direct reports

Troubleshoot design challenges in collaboration with field and engineering teams
