The City of Minneapolis is seeking a Stormwater GIS Technician to support the GIS and data management needs of the Regulatory group in the Surface Water and Sewers Division. This role involves maintaining stormwater infrastructure data, supporting utility programs, and creating maps for internal and public use.

Responsibilities

Assist in the development and maintenance of GIS databases and tools supporting stormwater programs

Update and maintain GIS data related to stormwater infrastructure

Perform GIS edits and updates to support the city’s Water Quality Model

Assist with coding and maintenance of computer programs that automate design, mapping, and geographic information systems (GIS)

Perform parcel updates and other items related to maintain accurate datasets in support of the Stormwater Utility

Develop and maintain ArcGIS Online maps and web mapping applications

Document workflows, standard operating procedures, and GIS processes

Consult with staff and clients to help determine their system needs

Create maps and map templates in support stormwater programs

Coordinating digitizing of City owned stormwater utilities

Provide GIS systems support to staff and train new users

Required

Associate Degree in Geographic Information Systems, Drafting, Engineering Technology, or Surveying with considerable course work in computer programming or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience

Three years of related experience. Equivalent combinations of training and experience may qualify; may vary by position

Good knowledge of GIS concepts, including cartographic principles, geodatabases, geoprocessing, and web mapping

Proficiency in ArcPro and ArcGis Online

Knowledge of civil engineering design

Understanding of Python or other programming language and its application to GIS

Good knowledge of computer hardware and software

Ability to train others to use engineering and mapping software

Good verbal and written communication skills
