Biology Instructor (Full-Time, Tenure-Track) Clovis Community College
Clovis Community College is one of the newest and fastest growing community colleges in California, and they are seeking a Biology Instructor to provide instruction in Biology for both majors and non-majors. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing curriculum, maintaining laboratory equipment, advising students, and participating in various college committees to enhance student success and equity.

Responsibilities
Teaching courses for Biology majors and non-majors as assigned
Developing and maintaining curriculum and a transfer degree program in biology
Maintaining and ordering equipment and supplies needed to outfit the laboratory sections associated with the biology program
Cooperating with colleagues in course scheduling
Participating in curriculum review and program development revision
Communicating effectively and working cooperatively with students, staff, campus and community organizations
Advising students and participating in student recruitment activities
Participating in the accreditation process
Participating in the evaluation of adjunct instructors
Serving on and attending department, college, and district committees as needed
Participating in course scheduling, program review, student learning outcome development and assessment to improve student learning
Teaching assignments in a variety of instructional settings and times, including evenings and/or weekends, on-line or off-campus and large group instruction classes as needed
Otherwise fulfilling all of the duties and responsibilities of instructors as required by Administrative Regulation 7122; and
Other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Evidence of responsiveness to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, as these factors relate to the need for equity-minded practice within the classroom
Master's in any biological science; or
Bachelor's in any biological science and master's in biochemistry, biophysics, or marine science; or
A valid California Community College Credential; or
The equivalent education and/or experience (requires an equivalency)
Preferred
Experience and skill incorporating elements of diversity, equity, and inclusion into all areas of responsibility
Recent experience working with African American, Asian/Pacific Islander, Latinx, Native American, and other racially minoritized students in the classroom and an understanding of how historical patterns of exclusion of these groups in higher education shape patterns of participation and outcomes
Experience working with students of various cultural, gender, age, socioeconomic, and ethnic backgrounds including students with disabilities
Willingness to examine and remediate one's instructional, relational, and classroom practices to more effectively engage and support racially minoritized students
Related work and professional experience
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with students and staff
Demonstrated ability to work with computers, and other technologies, which are utilized in providing high-quality instruction and support to students
Advise students and participate in student recruitment activities
Experience teaching human biology, human anatomy, microbiology and human physiology
Strong background in Anatomy and/or Physiology
Experience teaching Anatomy and Physiology at the higher education level
Demonstrated desire to innovate and lead Anatomy and/or Physiology courses
Experience teaching biology to both majors and non-majors
Experience teaching both lecture and laboratory biology courses at the secondary, or post-secondary level
Experience performing specialized and technical duties to assure efficient biology laboratory operations
Certified to teach in an on-line or hybrid environment
Knowledge of student success models/orientation programs designed to improve student success and retention
Knowledge of current assessment methods and materials
Knowledge of the community college and its mission and goals
