SCADA Engineer – Ignition

Responsibilities
Post-Commissioning Maintenance: Oversee the ongoing maintenance and optimization of control systems post-commissioning, ensuring they meet operational requirements
System Monitoring: Continuously monitor control systems to ensure optimal performance, reliability, and energy efficiency, addressing any deviations or issues promptly
Troubleshooting and Repairs: Diagnose and resolve technical issues related to control systems, including chiller plants, power distribution, and environmental monitoring systems
Automation Optimization: Implement and refine automation strategies to enhance system efficiency, reduce energy consumption, and improve overall performance
Documentation and Reporting: Maintain detailed records of system performance, maintenance activities, and troubleshooting efforts. Generate reports for management and stakeholders
Technical Support: Provide expert technical support to operations and maintenance teams, guiding them in resolving complex SCADA system issues. Bi-weekly on-call rotation with less than 15% travel required
Upgrades and Enhancements: Identify opportunities for system upgrades and enhancements, working with vendors and contractors to implement improvements
Compliance and Standards: Ensure all control systems comply with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and best practices
Training and Development: Mentor and train junior engineers and staff on control system operations and maintenance
Qualification
Required
Proven experience in maintaining and troubleshooting control systems, preferably in a datacenter or energy management/generation environment
Proficiency in programming languages and protocols commonly used in control systems (e.g., BACnet, Modbus)
2 or more years' experience with Inductive Automation's Ignition Product
Strong understanding of chiller plants, power distribution, and environmental monitoring systems
Familiarity with industry standards and protocols for control systems and automation (e.g., ASHRAE, ANSI/ASHRAE Standards, etc.)
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure
Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders
Communication: Clear verbal and written communication to document incidents and ensure proper shift handoffs
Collaboration: Ability to work closely with team members, supervisors, and cross-functional partners
Adaptability: Flexible in responding to changes in process, tools, environment, and shift assignments
Accountability: Takes ownership of assigned tasks and follows through with minimal supervision
Attention to Detail: Maintains thorough and accurate logs, inspections, records, and documentation
Time Management: Manages time effectively to meet performance expectations and service levels

Digital Literacy: Uses productivity tools (e.g., Outlook, Teams, Excel, ticketing systems) for communication and documentation in office or hybrid settings
Able to remain in a seated position for an extended period and to lift and carry up to 15 lbs. (office manuals, case notebooks, case files, case materials, standard boxes, report binders, etc.) as needed
