Principal Product Manager Supplier Discovery

Responsibilities

Own Supplier Discovery
Drive the product roadmap
Prioritize based on customer impact, business value, and platform leverage
Balance near-term customer needs with long-term data strategy and scalability
Build the Supplier Discovery Engine
Expand supplier search and matching capabilities by manufacturing process, capability, capacity, geography, certifications, and risk profile
Develop supplier qualification and assessment workflows enabling procurement and supplier quality teams to evaluate and onboard suppliers efficiently
Build supplier database management tools ensuring customers can maintain, enrich, and leverage their supplier data over time
Enable geographic and regional filtering to support nearshoring, reshoring, and supply chain diversification strategies
Integrate risk profiling financial health, geopolitical exposure, ESG factors, and supply chain resilience indicators
Build & Scale Digital Factory Models
Drive the strategy for building and maintaining True ValueHub's proprietary digital factory models representing supplier facilities and regional manufacturing benchmarks
Enable accurate cost simulation and manufacturing process modelling that powers True ValueHub's should cost engine
Expand regional coverage ensuring digital factories reflect the global manufacturing landscape (North America, Mexico, China, India, Southeast Asia, Europe, and beyond)
Partner with data and research teams to continuously update and validate factory models against real-world supplier and market data
Drive Platform Integration
Ensure tight integration with the Cost Engineering module digital factory models must seamlessly power should cost analysis
ERFX module integration discovered and qualified suppliers should flow directly into sourcing events
Go Deep with Customers
Conduct customer interviews, discovery calls, and on-site visits to understand how procurement, sourcing, engineering, and supplier quality teams find and evaluate suppliers
Understand customer pain points around supplier data quality, regional sourcing decisions, and cost benchmarking
Translate customer insights into clear product requirements and user stories
Collaborate Cross-Functionally
Partner with software engineering to deliver high-quality releases on time
Work closely with data science and research teams to build intelligent matching algorithms and maintain accurate factory models
Collaborate with the Cost Engineering and eRFX product teams to ensure a cohesive platform experience
Align with sales, customer success, and marketing to support go-to-market efforts and gather feedback from the field
Drive Execution
Define clear success metrics and track product performance post-launch
Run sprint planning, backlog grooming, and release coordination
Communicate progress, trade-offs, and decisions clearly to stakeholders at all levels
Build & Lead (as the team grows)
Mentoring, hiring, and leading product leads as the modules scale
Establish best practices for product development within your domain

Required

8+ years of product management experience, with a strong track record of owning and scaling B2B SaaS products
Deep domain expertise in manufacturing, procurement, sourcing, or supply chain ideally with direct experience in supplier management, supplier discovery platforms, or manufacturing cost modeling
Experience building data-intensive products you understand how to source, structure, validate, and leverage complex datasets
Familiarity with global manufacturing landscapes regional cost structures, supplier ecosystems, and sourcing dynamics across North America, Asia, and Europe
Strong business and customer orientation you start with the problem, not the solution
Ability to translate complex, multi-stakeholder workflows into clear product direction
Excellent communication skills written, verbal, and visual. You can present to executives, whiteboard with engineers, and facilitate workshops with customers
Comfort with data you use metrics to inform decisions and measure success
Technical fluency you can engage deeply with engineers on APIs, integrations, data models, and workflow automation
Thrives in fast-paced, startup-like environments with evolving priorities and ambiguity
Bias toward action you move quickly, learn fast, and iterate
Collaborative and low ego you build trust across teams, functions, and even with external suppliers
Curious and customer obsessed you dig until you understand the real problem, for both internal users and suppliers
Engineering degree required (Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical, or related field)

Preferred

MBA or advanced degree is a plus, but not required
Experience building or working with supplier databases, supplier networks, or procurement platforms
Background in manufacturing cost estimation, should-cost modeling, or parametric costing
Familiarity with specific manufacturing processes (machining, sheet metal, casting, injection molding, electronics assembly, etc.)
Experience with data enrichment, third-party data integration, or building proprietary datasets
Understanding of nearshoring/reshoring trends and regional supply chain dynamics
