Summer Internship (Construction Representative Aide)
The Architect of the Capitol (AOC) offers a Summer Internship Program for students to serve as Construction Representative Aides, providing hands-on professional experience and exposure to careers in public service on Capitol Hill. Interns will assist construction inspectors in overseeing construction activities, support administrative tasks, and ensure safety standards are met.

Responsibilities
Assist construction inspectors and construction representatives in the oversight of assigned construction activities for projects on the Capitol Campus
Support the Contract Officer's Representative (COR) with a variety of administrative activities to include developing construction change order estimates, coordinating meetings to include agendas and post meeting action items, and ensuring contractor work is performed to the highest standard based on the scope of work
Attend safety training and assist in reviewing contractor safety plans, and report safety deficiencies to the COR for immediate correction
Consult with on-site and off-site architects/engineers and assist other project personnel in resolving design conflicts to ensure construction changes, proposed by contractors, are feasible
Qualification
Required
You must be a current student who meets the following requirements: Applications will be accepted from students who are at least sixteen (16) years of age by June 30, 2026
Currently attending a college or university pursuing a degree in engineering, architecture, construction management or similar field of study
All students MUST be U.S. Citizens or a person who is lawfully admitted for permanent residence and is seeking citizenship as outlined in 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)(B)
You must be able to pass a drug test

Participation in the Summer Intern Employment Program is limited to a total of three years. Candidates are eligible to participate no more than three years, collectively or consecutively, in the Summer Intern Employment Program
