Responsibilities
Strategy and Planning: Create a detailed plan for sourcing, training, and delivering best-in-class data center operations and be charged with implementing those plans. Lead the effort to standardize and optimize delivery processes across teams, fostering a culture of safety, continuous improvement, and operational excellence. Leverage cutting-edge technology to improve performance and efficiency
End-to-End Delivery Oversight: Own performance of our data center operations teams across all customers, maintaining vigilance of contracted SLAs
Toolchain and Automation: Implement automation and necessary tools to improve scalability and productivity across operations. Ensure connectivity and traceability across critical solutions while streamlining workflows and maintaining governance and guardrails
Risk and Governance: Critically analyze operations to identify risk areas and guide the delivery team to mitigate those risks and execute successfully. Manage strategic risks and issues, acting as an escalation point for internal and external stakeholders. Ensure that data consistency and traceability are maintained across disparate systems, which is vital for regulatory compliance as operations scale up
Financial Oversight: Drive quality, efficiency, consistency, and profitability across the technical portfolio. Track and act on key delivery and financial metrics. Possess financial management proficiency at the engagement level for informed decision making
Capacity Forecasting: Forecast future demand for infrastructure delivery and services. Develop a strategy for meeting anticipated demand, which includes predicting when to increase staff and other resources
Resource Management: Lead resource planning and utilization efforts to meet delivery and margin goals. Manage the availability of individuals to take on tasks or new projects, ensuring efficient and sensitive alignment of resources with priorities
Team Leadership: Manage, motivate, and build the skills of team members. Lead, coach, and support Directors and Managers across delivery functions. Identify areas for improvement and work with team members to enhance performance
Talent Management: Attract and retain top talent. Develop performance systems, career pathing, and programs for team growth
Stakeholder Communication: Serve as an executive sponsor for key internal/external client accounts. Effectively manage relationships with clients, consortium partners, and stakeholders. Communication must be proactive, transparent, and effective (clear and concise) to meet the needs of the team and the organization
Qualification
Required
10+ years of leadership experience in data center operations, technical delivery, or technical consulting, with a proven track record of managing cross-functional delivery teams
Must be a great 'player coach' who brings a strong element of subject matter expertise ('been there, done that') related to technical or solution-specific delivery (e.g., data center infrastructure, technology operations)
Possess the skills to sift through an abundance of complex technical information and shape it into a manageable, realistic plan
Be able to anticipate and solve a variety of problems related to the operations, team, and plan quickly and efficiently
Be able to assign clear tasks, set expectations, and embed accountability into the team, supporting outcomes while avoiding micromanagement
Possess a data-driven, strategic mindset with a focus on outcomes, scalability, and efficiency. Must be able to prioritize tasks effectively, focusing on the most pressing, strategically important matters (Time Management)
Desirable to be an intermediate/advanced user of relevant data center management software and possess the ability to build systems around those technologies
