Responsibilities

Assist in the design, review, and preparation of plans and specifications for HVAC, plumbing, and other mechanical systems
Conduct field inspections to verify installation and operation of equipment, including boilers and elevators
Perform annual boiler and gas line inspections as required under HPS and Local Law 152
Troubleshoot mechanical equipment failures and prepare recommendations for corrective action
Support preventive maintenance planning and energy efficiency initiatives
Review contractor submittals, shop drawings, and project documentation
Ensure work meets safety, quality, schedule, and budget requirements
Coordinate with internal departments, contractors, and vendors to resolve technical issues and support project delivery
Prepare reports and maintain accurate project and inspection records

Required

A bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from an accredited college or university
Knowledge of mechanical system design, installation, and maintenance practices
Familiarity with NYC Building Code, ASHRAE standards, Local Law 152, and related regulations
Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills
Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, or similar design software
Experience with municipal or institutional building systems
