The New York State Education Department’s Office of Education Policy is seeking candidates for a Plant Utility Engineer 1 position in the New York State School for the Blind. The role involves operating, maintaining, and repairing HVAC systems and associated controls, ensuring compliance with safety codes, and supervising maintenance staff as needed.

Responsibilities

Operate, maintain, and repair the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems. Troubleshoot and repair the pneumatic, electric, and electronic controls associated with the HVAC systems
Maintain appropriate inventories for the maintenance and repair of the various HVAC systems
Maintain low-pressure steam boilers, boiler water treatment and their associated controls at the highest possible efficiency
Complete assigned tasks following applicable building, electrical and safety codes
Coordinate work daily with the Maintenance Supervisor 3. Provide supervision for the maintenance department during absences of Maintenance Supervisor 3; and
Assist maintenance staff (of all trades) with various assigned tasks

Required

Four years of experience in the operation, maintenance, and repair of boilers, HVAC, or auxiliary plant utilities equipment in commercial, industrial, or institutional facilities
Candidates must be physically able to perform duties assigned
Candidates must possess a valid New York State driver's license
