Responsibilities

Conducts entrance and exit conferences with provider staff
Completes inspection or survey reports detailing deficiencies, recommended remedies, and narrative to support regulatory findings
Communicates clearly and accurately with others (internally and externally) to provide, exchange, or verify information, answer inquiries, or resolve issues or complaints regarding services provided in the Home and Community-based Services and Texas Home Living Medicaid waiver programs, both of which serve individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and must receive specialized services that meet their needs
Re-visits residential sites and provider locations to verify correction of previously cited regulatory violations
Performs quality assurance reviews of documents prepared by others, for example, publications, assessments, reports
In the event of emergency contract action, be available to provide oversight and communication to other entities to ensure the well-being of individuals
Be available for on-call duties for emergencies such as weather events or high-priority situations at providers
Occasionally might need to testify at hearings or in court proceedings to provide information regarding policy/procedures, history, findings, or activities

Required

Valid driver's license
Experience in conducting investigations related to quality outcomes
Knowledge of program regulations and procedures, survey and investigation techniques, and principles
Skill in operating personal computers and software
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with team members and others and to work independently
Ability to communicate orally and in writing
Ability to use the computer for writing reports
Knowledge of acceptable professional standards of care
Ability to interpret complex regulatory policies, procedures, and regulations
Ability to exercise professional judgment and reach sound decisions in sometimes stressful situations

Preferred

Experience working with individuals with mental illness, intellectual or developmental disabilities, or physical disabilities preferred
Experience in Quality Assurance/compliance and Oversight/auditing preferred
Four-year degree from an accredited college or university, preferred
Qualified Intellectual Disability Professionals (QIDP), current license or registration as a nurse or social worker are preferred
