The role involves advising high-net-worth individuals on estate planning and trust administration, with responsibilities including drafting estate plans and handling probate court cases.

Responsibilities

Prepare initial drafts of estate plans for existing clients, including those with complicated family dynamics and structures

Assist with restatements of existing clients’ plans and funding of revocable trusts

Handle trust administration cases, including division of existing irrevocable trusts into sub-trusts and drafting pleadings and managing trust cases in probate court

Draft pleadings and handle probate court cases

Interface with tax litigators and independent valuation experts and accountants

Review and negotiate fee agreements with experts, trustees, appraisers, and tax preparers

Draft indemnity agreements and coordinate with valuation professionals

Foundational knowledge and ability to review federal gift and estate tax returns; foundational knowledge of gift, estate, income, and California property tax planning concepts

Strong academic record and analytical skills are required

Large law firm experience strongly preferred
