The University of Alabama at Birmingham is seeking an Entry-level Systems Engineer for their Engineering and Innovative Technology Development group. The role involves providing flight operations support, developing system-level documents, and assisting with functional and verification testing for complex engineering hardware and devices.

Responsibilities

Assists in development, implementation, and analysis of technical products and systems
Support meetings, teleconferences, and travel as required by projects
Travel to support testing and launch/return activities
Reports to EITD Systems Engineering Section Lead
Performs simple and routine engineering design tasks with standard techniques
Assists more senior engineers in the preparation of plans, data analysis, and reports
May be required to work nights and weekends, as necessary, to support real time flight operations.Travel to support testing and launch/return activities for approx. 7-day periods, 5-10 trips per year possible

Required

Bachelor's degree in Engineering and one (1) year of related experience required

Preferred

STEM-related field is preferred
Systems Engineering experience with space-flight or aerospace applications
Systems Engineering experience for development and production of embedded / integrated systems
Systems Engineering experience with ISO9001 and AS9100 Quality Programs
Operations support for NASA or commercial space activities
Experience using CAD software (e.g. SolidEdge or SolidWorks)
