Responsibilities
Assist in analyzing drawings, specifications, and scope documents to perform takeoffs
Help prepare bid proposals including labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor costs
Support pre-bid activities such as site visits, scope reviews, and bid meetings
Identify potential project risks and constructability concerns under guidance from senior estimators
Build relationships with vendors, subcontractors, and internal teams
Collaborate with project managers to ensure smooth transition from bid to build
Track bid data to improve estimating accuracy and processes
Stay current with NEC requirements, distribution systems, and industry best practices
Qualification
Required
Some experience or education in estimating electrical, commercial, or industrial projects (internships, co-ops, or 1–2 years in related roles acceptable)
Basic understanding of electrical systems, codes, and construction practices
Ability to interpret blueprints and contract documents
Highly organized, detail-oriented, and motivated to learn
Strong communication and collaboration skills
Proficiency in Excel, Word, Outlook, and Bluebeam
Preferred
Exposure to ConEst Intellibid is a plus but not required
