NEOGOV is seeking an Equipment Operator 1 for the City of Lancaster. The role involves the safe and efficient operation of trucks and other automotive equipment, performing assignments according to an established routine, and maintaining various public works projects.

Responsibilities

Follows safe practices in the performance of duties

Drives a dump truck to haul construction materials and supplies for street construction, water and sewer installation, and repair of various other public works projects

Operates a truck mounted snowplow and drives a dump truck with a trailer

Experience in maneuvering, connecting, and disconnecting trailers, leaf-pickers, vacuum trailers, and other attached or towable equipment

Performs manual labor involving loading and unloading trucks, digging of ditches, felling and trimming of trees, cutting brush, and similar tasks

Operates a rubber tire loader in general maintenance work and snow removal operations

Drives tractors for cutting grass

Uses a jackhammer and other power-driven equipment

Safely operates and maintains a Vactor truck for system maintenance and repair, including but not limited to, hydro-excavation OR for cleaning and maintaining components of Wastewater Collection system

Applicants must possess valid employment authorization to work in the United States

Applicants must have the ability to work on-site at City of Lancaster, Pennsylvania locations

Graduation from High School or completion of a GED is required

Possession of a valid Class B commercial driver's license issued by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and one year of experience in the operation of heavy automotive equipment

Proficient use of hand tools is required

Ability to operate a vehicle on private and public streets is required

Ability to safely enter/exit and work within manholes and/or confined spaces is required

Ability to climb up/down ladder wells and climb unprotected heights is required

Proven ability to work well under pressure and to maintain positive interactions is required

Positive interpersonal skills are required

Proven ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment is required

Proven ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment is required
