AmeriCorps Seniors Program Specialist

The State of Iowa - Executive Branch is seeking an AmeriCorps Seniors Program Specialist to join their team in promoting volunteerism and engaging volunteers. The role involves supporting nonprofits in recruiting and recognizing volunteers, as well as helping individuals find volunteer opportunities.

Responsibilities

Contact nonprofit partners (stations) to confirm current volunteer opportunities and collect volunteer timesheets
Contact unassigned and potential volunteers regarding volunteer opportunities available
Assist in entering volunteer hours and related data into database
Attend volunteer recruitment events as needed
Attend volunteer recognition events as needed
Assist in contacting references for potential volunteers
Other duties as assigned

Required

Experience working in databases and basic knowledge in Excel and Outlook
Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
Two or more years of experience working in nonprofits, with volunteers, and/or a population of 55 plus
Must possess a valid driver's license. Travel is required
Applicant will be required to complete a background check to be considered for this position
Six years of full-time work experience in the administration or operation/execution of a program
A total of four years of education and full-time experience, where thirty semester hours of accredited college or university course work in any field equals one year of full-time experience, and a total of two years of graduate-level education and full-time experience, where twenty-four semester hours of accredited graduate college or university course work in any field equals one year of full-time experience
Current, continuous experience in the state executive branch that includes eighteen months of full-time work as a Program Planner 1

Preferred

Experience recruiting and supervising volunteers or employees preferred
