Responsibilities

Perform a variety of high level administrative tasks as the Public Information Officer in the agency

Responsible for the overall management and leadership of the Public Information Office

Overseeing the agency strategic communication plan, enhancing the visibility and image of the agency, and enhancing partnerships with key internal and external constituencies

Planning and overseeing special community and media events that profile and promote public awareness of the Department's activities and function

Participates in organized events including those that occur outside of regular business hours such as exhibits and events that enhance the visibility of the department's mission

Writes and publishes informative articles associated with the Department's activities and events

Creates and develops for the public and Department multimedia forms of informational/educational materials relating to the Department's activities

Serves as spokesperson for the Department as assigned by the Department Director or his designee

Employee may coordinate projects with the City Manager's Office and the City Public Information Officer in updating the website, communicating through the news media, and utilizing various communication vehicles as needed
