TRANSPORTATION ENGINEER (CIVIL)
Caltrans is the California Department of Transportation, dedicated to improving lives and communities through transportation. They are seeking a Transportation Engineer (Civil) to perform professional engineering work on highway construction projects, ensuring compliance with contract requirements for materials used in construction.

Responsibilities
Perform the duties of a Materials Engineering and Testing Services Representative (METS Rep.) or Assistant METS Representative (AMR)
Represent METS on ongoing projects to provide materials engineering expertise and ensure compliance with contract documents during all phases of the project
Perform a wide variety of professional engineering work in the Department on highway construction projects involving bridges, roadways, buildings, and other highway infrastructure
Work in both an office and field setting with frequent trips to various job sites and manufacturer facilities
Qualification
Required
A valid driver's license is required when operating a state or personal vehicle on official business in performance of their duties driving to various field locations
Appointment to Range D requires a valid Professional Engineering License (Civil) issued by the California Board of Registration for Professional Engineers. For all other ranges, a PE license is not required
Statement of qualifications (SOQ) required
Possession of Minimum Qualifications will be verified prior to interview and/or appointment. If you are basing your eligibility on education, you must include your unofficial transcript(s)/diploma for verification. Unofficial, original, or official sealed transcripts will be accepted and may be required upon appointment. Applicants with foreign transcripts/degrees must provide a transcript/degree U.S. equivalency report evaluation that indicates the number of units and degree to which the foreign coursework is equivalent
