Responsibilities
Ability to work overtime hours as needed which may require a 9 or 10 hour working day and an occasional Saturday
Ability to learn the setup and operation of mills, lathes, saws, grinders, drills and other related tool and die equipment
Ability to learn operation of the CNC Vertical Machining Center
Ability to read precise measuring equipment (micrometers, dial calipers, indicators, gauges) with tight tolerances
Ability to learn details to determine which tool steels for various projects
Must have good trouble-shooting abilities
Must be able to communicate with production personnel regarding tooling performance issues
Ability to purchase a wide variety of hand tools and measuring tools to use on the job
Ability to learn details of the heat treating process
Responsible to log work done on dies and molds
Responsible for recording hours and working on different equipment to meet the required hours per the CTB Tool & Die Apprenticeship Program
Ability to meet specific deadlines on projects
Ability to work in a team environment
Participates in the department 5S program
Other marginal duties as assigned by Supervisor
Must be able to perform all physical requirements
Qualification
Required
High school degree or GED or equivalent factory experience
Prior factory or Tool & Die experience required
This position requires a strong focus on safety
Ability to read, write, and do basic math in English
Ability to read and understand advanced prints
Must have a good mechanical aptitude
Participate in the 8000 hours on the job training and the designated Ivy Tech curriculum per the CTB Tool & Die Apprenticeship Program
Ability to pay attention to detail
Forklift license and overhead crane license required
Must be able to carry out detailed written or oral instruction
