Junior Recruiter

Responsibilities
Supports recruiting efforts including job posting setup, advertising coordination, career fairs/employment events, community partnerships, and applicant correspondence
Assists with candidate sourcing through online platforms, networking, referrals, and internal databases to develop qualified candidate pipelines
Reviews incoming applications for minimum qualifications and forwards qualified candidates to the Recruiter/Hiring Manager for consideration
Conducts initial outreach to candidates (email/phone) to confirm interest, availability, basic qualifications, and next steps
Coordinates and schedules phone screens, interviews, and related logistics (calendar invites, candidate instructions, interview confirmations)
Prepares and maintains requisition documentation and recruiting trackers; monitors aging requisitions and communicates status updates to recruiters and hiring managers
Assists with administration of pre-employment screening steps (e.g., background checks, reference checks, drug testing, education verification) per established procedures and compliance requirements
Ensures candidate files and onboarding documentation are complete and appropriately stored prior to start date
Maintains data integrity within the ATS, including job postings, candidate status/disposition, contact notes, interview outcomes, and offer documentation as directed
Assists in ensuring hiring criteria are met and hiring processes follow established policies, including EEO/AA requirements and Native American preference when applicable
Supports recruitment initiatives and special projects, including collaboration with Cherokee Nation partners as needed
Maintains a working knowledge of basic recruiting practices, candidate experience standards, and applicable employment guidelines relevant to the work performed
Performs other job-related duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree required (or in progress with equivalent experience may be considered based on business need)
0–1 years of recruiting, HR coordination, customer service, or administrative experience preferred
Equivalent combination of education and related experience may be considered
Basic knowledge of recruiting processes and professional communication practices
Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple tasks, deadlines, and changing priorities
Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word) and comfort learning ATS/HR systems
Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to provide timely, accurate updates to candidates and internal stakeholders
Customer-service mindset with ability to support a positive candidate and hiring manager experience
Ability to follow documented processes and escalate issues to a Recruiter/Manager when needed
Must pass pre-employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal
Preferred
0–1 years of recruiting, HR coordination, customer service, or administrative experience preferred
