They are seeking an Administrative Specialist 1 / Trainee to lead inquiry intake processes, conduct background research, and provide essential administrative support to enhance department efficiency.
Government Administration
Responsibilities
Leads the inquiry intake and coordination process, serving as the primary point for OPWDD inquiries
Conducts background research and compiles complete inquiry packets to support efficient attorney review and case closure
Tracks inquiries to completion and ensures timely follow-up
Schedules all MCC 10-day and 30-day meetings and supports training coordination
Performs similar scheduling and coordination functions for SART and has provided coverage during staff leave
Partnered with the Ethics Officer to streamline the Ethics process, including organizing a shared mailbox and tracking system
Provides essential administrative support and is a reliable contributor to overall department efficiency
Qualification
Required
Current NYS Justice Center for Protection of People with Special Needs employees with permanent, contingent-permanent or 55b/c service as an Administrative Specialist 1 (previously Administrative Assistant) and interested in reassignment
Current New York State employee with one year or more permanent, contingent-permanent or 55b/c service as an Administrative Specialist 1 (previously Administrative Assistant)
Current New York State employee with one year or more of permanent, contingent-permanent or 55b/c service in a position allocated to a Grade 12 or above AND eligible for transfer under Section 52.6 or 70.1 or 70.4 of the Civil Service Law
Successful completion of the two-year traineeship leads to appointment as an Administrative Specialist 1, SG-18
Administrative Specialist Trainee 1: four years of experience performing or overseeing budget, human resources, and business services activities for an organization or program
Administrative Specialist Trainee 2: Five years of experience performing or overseeing budget, human resources, and business services activities for an organization or program
Administrative Specialist 1, SG-18: Six years of experience performing or overseeing budget, human resources, and business services activities for an organization or program
An associate degree may substitute for two years of experience
A bachelor's degree may substitute for four years of experience
A master's degree may substitute for five years of experience
A doctorate may substitute for six years of experience
