Gun Violence Mobile Advocate Counselor

Responsibilities
Provide trauma-informed, survivor-centered information, crisis intervention, legal, medical, and general advocacy, support, and referrals to survivors of gun violence and their families at the individual and system level
Provide assessments, brief intervention, trauma focused therapy, and psychosocial support to survivors and their families. Provide crisis intervention to victims/family members over the phone and in-person
This position is based out of HMC’s Harborview Abuse and Trauma Clinic (HATC) and works collaboratively with other VIPP team members to serve survivors of gun violence and their families, by offering consultation and support to the team and other health care team members. This position can also meet patients in specialty clinics, inpatient hospital, and/or with other members of the care team
Develop ongoing relationships internally and with external health providers, law enforcement, and other social service providers to provide effective and timely continuity of care for primary and secondary survivors. Work in partnership with King County, City of Seattle, Department of Commerce, and community-based organizations to ensure survivors are getting timely and helpful services to meet their needs
Develop ongoing relationships with service providers, community-based organizations, and other systems through outreach and engagement efforts and representing VIPP at community-based events
Qualification
Required
A Master of Social Work Degree from a program accredited by the Council on Social Work Education
One year of full-time social work experience in a health care setting or equivalent. Experience can include a practicum placement as part of a social work training program and/or employment experience
Must hold one of the following credentials issued by the state of Washington: Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker
