Sr. Research Associate 2, SOM (A)
The University of Miami is an academic medical center providing leading-edge patient care and research. They are seeking a Senior Research Associate 2 to support research activities under the direction of a principle investigator, focusing on data collection, analysis, and maintaining databases.

Responsibilities
Contributes to basic and applied research activities by collecting and analyzing data and maintaining databases
Understands and interprets research protocols and procedures
Participates in the publication of significant results
Advances expertise through continued education, training, and research
Maintains an overview of relevant research findings
Ensures all research is undertaken according to good research practice
Stays abreast of developments in the field which may impact department functions
Provides guidance, mentorship, and oversight to junior research staff and students
Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets
Assist in the development and validation of mass spectrometry assays for various protein/peptide analytes
Prepare biological samples for analysis using a variety of protein purification techniques
Operate, maintain and troubleshoot a variety of mass spectrometers (MALDI-TOF, LC-QTOF, LC-triple quadrupole)
Organize data, interpret results and enter test results into the computer, with minimal supervision
Maintain complete, accurate, organized, and up-to-date records/logs/files in accordance with regulatory requirements
Contribute to upkeep and safety of the laboratory and assure a clean, safe, adequately supplied work area
Assure the accuracy of all tests performed by adhering to the laboratory’s standard operating procedures
Review test orders and verify accuracy of corresponding specimens
Stay up to date with literature and technical publications related to LC-MS analysis
Qualification
Required
Master's Degree in relevant field
Minimum 1 Year Of Relevant Experience
Skill in collecting, organizing, and analyzing data
Ability to recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of problems
Ability to exercise sound judgment in making critical decisions
Masters degree in biochemistry, analytical chemistry, chemistry, clinical laboratory sciences, medical technology or a related field
Requires knowledge of how to operate and maintain various mass spectrometers
Requires knowledge of protein chemistry and protein purification techniques
Requires knowledge or the ability to learn various software applications
Requires the ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally
Requires the ability to organize data and samples
Requires the ability to work independently and effectively within timelines and to collaborate in a multidisciplinary group
Preferred
A clinical license in the field of clinical chemistry is desirable but not mandatory
Hands-on mass spectrometry experience is highly desired
