Responsibilities

Perform specialized and complex experiments/studies
Participate in the publication of significant research results
Advance expertise through education, training, and research
Write extramural grants/proposals to gain support when appropriate
Collect, prepare, analyze, dissect, and evaluate specimens and tissue cultures
Weigh and anesthetize laboratory animals for experiments
Operate sensitive and highly complex laboratory equipment
Perform calculations to complete research test results
Perform photography and dark room processing
Participate in training sessions and workshops
Adhere to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguard University assets
Maintain the lab mouse colony through daily checks, setting up breeding pairs, genotyping, etc. Breed and allocate experimental mice for ongoing studies in the lab
Perform routine tests/experiments under the direction of the principal investigator or supervisor
Perform research procedures on experimental samples as directed
Record and check experiments/results for completeness and accuracy
Perform calculations and maintain appropriate log and notebooks
Assist in care of lab equipment
Attend courses, seminars, and lab meetings to expand knowledge of research and laboratory techniques
Record results, organize data, and maintain lab notebook in an organized manner

Required

Bachelor's Degree in relevant field
Minimum 2 years of relevant experience
Skill in collecting, organizing, and analyzing data
Ability to recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of problems
Ability to exercise sound judgment in making critical decisions
Basic understanding of lab procedures, protocols, and equipment
Strong verbal and written communications skills
Strong organizations skills
Solid critical thinking/problem-solving skills
Basic molecular biology and flow cytometry techniques

Preferred

Bachelor's Degree Preferred and more than 3 working years of proven experience in similar position
