Director, Foundation Development

The Director of Development will work closely with the Vice President of Foundation to develop strategies for fundraising and manage a personal portfolio of donors while overseeing Foundation operations.

Responsibilities

Work closely with the Vice President and Foundation Directors to formulate development plans with targets, goals and realistic timetables for Ascension Indiana Foundations; create and execute plans that support and build upon KPIs and SMART goals
Manage a portfolio of 75+ donors and actively coordinate, schedule and solicit major gift support with special attention to donors of $25,000+; Develop relationships and partnerships with senior administrators, physicians, nurses, associates, board members, volunteers, and community contacts to identify grateful individuals and families as well as individuals who support the work and mission of St. Vincent
Assist with major gift donor recognition/naming opportunity process that includes availability, minimum gift requirements, and descriptions, and serve as an information resource for staff and volunteers
Assist with the development and plan of action for capital and major fundraising campaigns
Assist with supporting board and committee involvement
Serve as a resource and ongoing support for Directors in other Indiana regions
Lead and manage the implementation and coordination of a statewide grateful patient fundraising program
Work with Hospital and Clinical leaders to assist in the implementation of the grateful patient fundraising program
Partner with Physician Champions to manage and guide referrals, prospects and donors through the grateful patient cycle resulting in major gift and annual donor acquisition
Work closely with Major Gift team members, ensuring synergy and strategic involvement, and the Moves Management team to ensure adequate screening and examination of potential philanthropic opportunities for grateful patients
Prepare and deliver presentations, speeches, and reports as needed to a variety of audiences to increase awareness of the program
Coordinate the training and educational initiatives of the program across the system
Manage the Development Coordinator in the creation of statewide collateral resulting in an increased visibility of the grateful patient program
Oversee the planning, management and execution of Foundation signature and third-party events
In partnership with the Vice President and Directors, develop detailed plans of action for capital and major fundraising campaigns
Manage the development and execution of detailed plans of action for all annual giving initiatives that align with the strategic priorities of the hospital, partnering with internal ministry and system leaders as appropriate
Collaborate, develop and lead a balanced fundraising approach while maintaining focus on cost to raise a dollar
Manage annual revenue and expense goals for campaigns and projects, and collaborate with the business office and development team members to efficiently forecast anticipated revenue and expenses
Serve as a resource and ongoing support for Directors in other Indiana regions, including grateful patient fundraising, annual giving and events
Manage annual giving and corporate giving development team members
Collaborate with the Directors on a communication plan that supports the strategic priorities of Indiana Foundations
Manage development team members
Maintain accurate and timely tracking of all donor activities using Raiser’s Edge donor database
Oversee budget and timelines for assigned areas, ensuring deadlines are met

Required

High School diploma equivalency with 5 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required, with 2 of those years being in leadership/management OR Associate's degree/Bachelor's degree with 3 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required, with 2 of those years being in leadership/management
5+ years of experience in a combination of fundraising/development, sales, account management, communications, healthcare, or related field
Proven success in soliciting major gift donations of $25,000+
