Responsibilities
Create and facilitate small-group literacy workshops for K-2 learners, ensuring phonics instruction is engaging, enjoyable, and tailored to individual needs
Adjust teaching approaches dynamically in response to student engagement, reading levels, and real-time feedback
Conduct motivational one-on-one check-ins with students to promote progress in adaptive literacy software and reach learning milestones
Analyze student performance data from adaptive platforms and apply insights to customize instruction for each group
Employ storytelling, humor, gaming metaphors, and encouragement to build persistence and reduce learning resistance
Qualification
Required
Available to work on-site at NextGen Academy in Austin, TX
Bachelor's degree in elementary education, reading, or a related discipline
Certification in structured literacy methods such as Orton-Gillingham, Wilson Reading System, or comparable evidence-based phonics frameworks
2+ years of experience providing small-group reading instruction to K-2 students or learners facing reading challenges
Proven capability to evaluate student reading levels and develop differentiated lesson plans autonomously
Genuine interest in video games and gaming culture, whether or not you play yourself
Authorized to work in the United States without requiring visa sponsorship
