Field Biologist I
Bancroft Construction Services is seeking an on-call Field Biologist to support nesting bird surveys, environmental compliance, and construction monitoring for projects in the Central Valley area. This field-based role involves conducting biological surveys, monitoring construction activities, and ensuring compliance with environmental permits while working collaboratively with construction teams.

Responsibilities
Conduct biological construction monitoring and environmental inspections
Perform pre-construction surveys and ongoing compliance monitoring
Implement avoidance and minimization measures (WEAPs, ESAs, buffers, exclusion zones)
Monitor and maintain wildlife exclusion fencing
Conduct nesting bird surveys and wildlife monitoring
Identify common and special-status plant and wildlife species
Collect field data using GPS and mobile apps (ArcGIS Field Maps, Fulcrum)
Prepare accurate daily logs and compliance documentation
Coordinate directly with construction crews and project staff
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Biology, Environmental Science, Ecology, or related field
Minimum 1 year of field biology or construction monitoring experience
Valid U.S. Driver's License and ability to travel independently
Ability to work outdoors in variable weather and terrain
Strong attention to detail and communication skills
Flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, and overnight travel
U.S. Citizenship required
Preferred
Experience assessing vegetation communities in the San Joaquine Valley
Prior experience on CA High-Speed Rail projects
California rare plant identification experience
Experience leading WEAPs and working directly with contractors
